These elk are inside Sequim city limits

The Sequim Dungeness Herd of elk is a little different than most Roosevelt elk. It is more like a "designer herd" from what the hunters tell me. The lead Bull does not get jealous if several bulls enjoy the herd. Their fur coats are smooth and shinny. Perhaps it is the Sequim weather. This herd stays around Sequim all year hiding during hunting season. Most hunters do not like to hunt the Dungeness herd because 90% of the property that the elk roam on is posted no hunting. The other 10% the elk know not to go on during hunting season. So it takes a lot of time to shoot one. It is easier and quicker to go up into the mountains.
